Hi guys,
I knew a lot of us want to JAPA! even undergraduate students also want the same master student want but are being discouraged due to the heavy tuition fee payment.
So if you are an undergraduate student or you have a sibling or family sibling who's interested in having their undergraduate studies in the USA, this my LETTER is for them!
Oya call them and you all should gather HERE!!!
We all want a better life, good school, good road, security, earn money while schooling, etc. But some dreams are shattered due to the heavy tuition fee.
A lot of undergraduate students would be like "mehn, $45,000 for my tuition fee per session?! where I wan see am? lol😃😃😃😃
I do understand the feeling, but what if I tell you that from the $45,000 you could end up paying only $10,000 per session or you could end up paying NOTHING?
Yes, it is sooo possible in the USA and there are lots of people who got that!
Currently in the USA, regardless of your chosen course and the school, research shows that most schools in the USA have different scholarships for international students who are interested in their undergraduate studies.
I mean, they are just much. I wouldn't be able share most of these schools on my blog, so I decided to share it in my LETTER TO YOU series for the week.
I felt my letter would cover it more rather than only posting the scholarship for specific schools.
Although, I have shared scholarships information about some schools in the USA for undergraduate studies. Some of the schools are Beloit College, Ferris State University, Temple University. John Hopkins University and Georgia Southern University,
Now if you checked these schools website, you would see that they had up to full tuition fee scholarships for international students.
Let me give you a tip on applying to school. This should be used when applying to any school in any country not necessarily the USA.
After you might have identify your area of interest (Course/Program), the school and the Country you would like to go, it is advisable to also check the tuition fee page before making your applications. Do not be so fast to apply without checking the tuition fee.
Most students are fond of applying without checking the tuition fee. So, when they are given offer and the tuition fee is communicated in the mail, they'd be like "ah! this amount is too much o, I cannot afford it blah blah".
This is why it is good to check before you apply!
After going through the requirement also check the tuition fee. Then, look for the financial aid section.
Now, this is where we are going.
Based on my personal research and engagement, I discovered that almost all the school in the USA have different financial aid for international students interested in their undergraduate studies. In fact, I can say all schools in the USA.
The scholarships range from Merit-based to Freshman scholarship among others.
What is Merit-based scholarship?
Merit-based scholarship is a scholarship awarded to an incoming international student who demonstrate a good grade in high school and other exams as needed in his/her application. Such student is automatically awarded a merit-based
What is a Freshman Scholarship?
A freshman scholarship is also awarded automatically for an international student willing to study in the school.
These scholarships are awarded by the school. There is an outside or a private scholarship. Now if we are to consider an outside or private scholarships, you may be getting a fully funded scholarship for your undergraduate studies.
Yes, you can get it! People are getting it already!
Although depending on the school, most of these scholarships may not cover your full tuition fee, however, it will reduce the weight of paying the total amount all by yourself.
The good thing is, most of the scholarship is renewed yearly for up to four years which is the period of your studies.
Although, you may need to maintain a particular grade to keep the renewal active.
Let me break it down for you.
A merit or freshman scholarship could be between $20,000 - $40,000 per semester while your tuition fee could be between $30,000 - $55,000 per semester. This is depending on your chosen school and course. Also, Merit scholarship could be for a full tuition fee.
Now, if your school fee is like $55,000 and you are given a scholarship of up to $45,000 this means you have only $10,000 to pay.
Another good thing is that this $10,000 could be paid monthly!
yes! you can be making the payment monthly!
Is this not good?
However, you cannot assume that you will pay monthly without discussing it with the school. You need to send a mail to the school requesting that you would like to pay your tuition fee monthly, that they should give you a monthly breakdown of your tuition fee.
The monthly payment would enable you to have a convenient payment so you would not be "choke" with school payment.
Although most of the schools I have seen so far allow this, but you still need to engage them because this option is not always available on the school website.
Meanwhile, some of these schools that gave a partial fee could also award you a full tuition fee scholarship. You just need to have a good grade in your secondary school exams/WAEC. Another major consideration is given to students who did wonderfully well in his/her SAT exams.
In case you do not know, SAT is required for your undergraduate studies in the USA. It is an aptitude exam that is required for your undergraduate studies in the USA. The purpose of the SAT exam is to measure your readiness for college/university.
For a better understanding, here is a what to do
- Search for your chosen school.
- Check if they have your preferred course.
- Check the tuition fee.
- Check the school financial aid section.
- Confirm the amount of financial aid/scholarship for international students, not USA students.
- Review the amount with the tuition fee to confirm if it is okay for you.
- If you cannot find the financial aid for international students, send a mail to the school and ask if there is any financial aid for international students and how much is it.
- Send a mail requesting that you would like to pay your tuition fee monthly. They should advise you of the payment breakdown
- Do all these before applying to the school. However, if the school is not willing to tell you the amount of the financial aid before application, you can go ahead and apply. There is definitely something for you.
